Numerous operatic or concert overtures have remained attractive as independent concert literature since the 19th Century. Such works are regularly included in band programs today. In many instances, the desire to perform such works means to misjudge the musical possibilities of quite some bands. Consequently, the composer Alfred Bösendorfer has always endeavored to provide tailor-made original works for amateurs in this specific field. He wrote pieces that will not deny their classic models, and which will reflect the atmosphere of such works.
“L’Ora della verità” is such an example which is written in classical buffa-style.
