Markus Götz is known for his creative ideas and an up-to-date tone language. As a composer he claims from himself “to write music for the musicians. Music that is liked by (amateur) musicians but at the same time advances them.” In 2006, he composed a spooky-comical musical with the title “Canterville Ghost”. He skillfully transfers the wonderful irony of Oscar Wilde’s short story into our modern times: The dead Sir Simon walks abroad for many hundreds of years in Canterville Castle. He successfully frightened away any new owner of the castle. But with a family from the US, he hits the wall – as they are absolutely not impressed by his creepy spook attacks. The effective overture of the musical was published with the title “Canterville Ghost” in the RUNDEL series “Rock & Wind Band”. The thrilling mix of concert band and rock band allows for many great spine-chilling effects and shows the rocking side of the “Canterville Ghost”. Markus Götz created a sweeping combination of film score and symphonic rock overture with a big entertainment value.
