Centennial Celebration
This festive piece was commissioned by the Bardstown High School Concert Band and its director Matthew P. Brown in celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Bardstown City Schools (Kentucky). A vigorous fanfare-like introduction gracefully opens this glorious composition and, after a short transition, flows into a soft middle part that is rich in melodies and nicely features the woodwinds. The lyrical melodic lines gradually gain intensity and lead to a bright conclusion, where we hear again the graceful fanfares of the beginning.
