"Ceremonic Festival" was created for the music district of Silz in Tyrol (Austria) and celebrated its premiere as part of a major music festival in July 2021. The music association that commissioned this piece wanted a composition that could be played by many wind orchestras and used as part of massed band events. The result is a symphonic work that once again combines tradition with innovation thanks to the author's unmistakable signature. It is Martin Scharnagl's philosophy to mix and merge different stylistic and musical elements. The fact that this results in something uniquely new can be seen in a special way with "Ceremonic Festival": chorale-like passages are contraposed with film music themes; traditionally conceived melodies are combined with refreshingly modern harmonic parts. These ingredients create a consistently positive, optimistic, forward-moving work. It is suitable for both small and large-scale performances and gives any concert or church occasion the character of a festive ceremony.
