Olympus Fanfare

When the composer wrote this bright fanfare, he had the opening ceremonies of major sports events in mind, and he thought in particular of the Olympic Summer Games 2004 in Athens.
As the various sports events that took place in ancient Greece were embedded in mythology, Kees Vlak even hid sort of a short musical program in this fanfare: Brilliant flourishes mark the beginning which are followed by a “polyphonic contest” of the individual themes until the musical apogee is reached: Olympus, the home of the gods, stands out in all its splendor and glory.
