Dana Schraml | Composers

Dana Schraml was born on August 21, 1998 in Steyr (Upper Austria). She tried out a variety of instruments at a young age, but her greatest love was the clarinet. At the age of six she began learning this instrument from her father. Two years later she joined the local music club and also began piano lessons.

In her youth, Dana Schraml won numerous awards and often took part in the national competition “Prima la musica”. When she was sixteen, she decided to take Martin L. Fiala's composition classes. Fortunately, he recognized Schraml's talent and supported her in various projects. From then on, she became involved in various competitions as well as “Youth Composed”, organized premieres at the Brucknerhaus Linz, arranged various commissions and took part in workshops. For her compositions she received the Dr. Josef Ratzenböck scholarship from the state of Upper Austria. At the same time, she began studying clarinet at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, which she continued at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.

During her studies she wrote her first wind band pieces and majored in wind orchestra conducting with Prof. Martin Fuchsberger at the Mozarteum. Since then, numerous different works have been created in which one can sense the joy of composing. Inspired by various music groups such as the Bläserphilharmonie Salzburg, Schraml ventured into the public eye with her orchestral works.

Dana Schraml is currently studying at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Prof. Albert Osterhammer and is working as a bandmaster. She would like to pass on the joy she has in making music and conducting to others. She hopes that she can achieve this through her compositions.
