Friedrich Spohr | Composers

Friedrich Spohr was a Saxon military musician. In 1864 he composed the world-famous march "Gruß an Kiel" as a reminder of the invasion of Kiel by Saxon troops, in which he himself took part. From 1868 to 1893, Friedrich Spohr was head of the music corps of Infantry Regiment No. 102 “Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria”. In 1882 he was appointed music director.
