The composition VITA PRO MUSICA, in English "A Life for Music", was created in winter 2015 on the occasion of the 60th birthday of Ernst Oestreicher, principal conductor of the bavarian wind band organization “Nordbayerischer Musikbund” and of the “North Bavarian Youth Wind Orchestra”. Ernst Oestreicher commissioned a celebratory piece in the form of an opening fanfare and a lyrical hymn. Melodic motifs of the lyrics of the Frankenlied (Song of Franconia) "Wohlauf, die Luft geht frisch und rein" (Get up, the air blows fresh and clean) - runs like a red thread through the entire composition. After VITA PRO MUSICA was first published for wind bands, this music is now also available for brass quintet. It can either be played with only brass or also with an additional snare drum.
