Ragtime for Band
Scott Joplin is regarded as one of the founders of classical ragtime. The strictly rhythmic character, the zestful harmonies and impulsive dynamics of this genre find perfect expression in his numerous ragtimes, of which the “Maple Leaf Rag” (1899) and “The Entertainer” (1902) are the best known examples.

The “Maple Leaf Rag”, which was originally composed for piano, has been arranged in an effective and colourful version for concert band by Kees Vlak.
