Since the early fifties the composer Hans Hartwig devoted much of his work to the amateur band movement. He wrote a number of works that helped immensely to provide beginners and instrumentalists who acquired some technique with the appropriate attractive literature required in those fields. Hans Hartwig who was born in Upper Silesia later was active in Upper Swabia from 1965 to 1978, and he still lives in that area. For his new home region he composed a sparkling march of dedicatory qualities. On the one hand its title alludes to the impressive medieval Waldburg castle, generally regarded to be the symbol of Upper Swabia, and on the other hand he keeps alive the name of the Waldburg dynasty of counts and later princes who exercised great influence on the history of that part of Germany.
Most repectfully dedicated to „His Royal Highness, Prince Johannes von Waldburg-Wolfegg“
