ALPHAVILLE is a German pop band that was founded in 1983 in Münster, Westphalia by Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd and Frank Mertens. Her songs "Big In Japan" and "Forever Young" became hits worldwide. They took the name "Alphaville" from the French science fiction film of the same name by Jean-Luc Godard from the 1960s.
