Saint Cecilia - Sainte Cecile - Santa Cecilia - Sint Cecilia
Choralphantasie / Chorale Fantasia

“It is a huge privilege to be exposed to music from early childhood. Before birth I was lucky enough to listen to the sounds of my mother playing piano and cello. My family encouraged the wonderful fascination of music. I had the opportunity to learn several instruments and finally discover my talent for composition. A love for music will always be the bond between my family and myself. I dedicate this piece to my entire family.”
Thomas Asanger

SAINT CECILIA is a striking chorale fantasia in loose rhapsodical form that puts the emotional and expressive element of a musical idea in the forefront. A 16 measure main theme is presented by the woodwinds and then returns in several harmonic and rhythmic variations. This composition impresses with its colorful, vivid and almost explosive instrumentation, allowing for the band to present its full richness of sound.
