Themen aus den 9 Sinfonien Themes from all Symphonies
In 2020 we celebrated the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s birth. The composer who was born in Bonn is considered the most performed classical composer in the world. He is often described as the “consummator of Viennese Classicism” and the one who “paved the way for Romantic music”. As such, he created magnificent masterpieces, especially his nine symphonies. They all belong to the standard repertoire of symphonic orchestras. The American composer James L. Hosay followed up on the idea of collecting thematic excerpts from all nine symphonies and combining them in an independent, impressive concert piece. He brilliantly stayed very close to the original form of Beethoven’s music on the one hand but adapted it to the conditions and requirements of the large wind orchestra on the other.
