This Baroque Suite unifies five pieces of the French composter Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632-1687). His unprecedented career made him music intendant of the the Sun King Ludwig XIV. In this function he shaped the musical life at the court of Versailles. His influence outreached the French borders and affected the musical style of the whole 17th century.
As the movements of this suite derive from different of Lully's works, there is no coherent entity. So there is no need to always perform the whole suite. You can also play only one movement or a selection of several movements. What they all have in common is that they deserve a splendid interpretation, so you need a good trumpet and flugelhorn section. When you play the suite with just brass instruments then the flugelhorns, tenor horns and french horns have to play all the included cues. Timpanies are not stringently required but recommended.
