Info

The production of the three great ballets by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) in St. Petersburg represents the supreme expression of the classical dance and thus created the base for the renaissance of the ballet in the 20th century.
The “March” is heard in Act I of ”The Nutcracker” which takes place on Christmas Eve in the home of Mayor Silberhaus. When you listen to this world-famous ballet which was premiered in 1892 it is hard to believe that Tchaikovsky put aside the work for some time, as inspiration seemed to have deserted him.
