It is astonishing that kind of a mysterious enchantment enthralls people when they think of certain places. This also holds true in the case of Mariánské Láznì, a beautiful resort of the West Bohemian “triangle of spas”. The famous German poet Goethe called it “the jewel of the Emperor’s Forest”. Contrary to many functional and rather cold cityscapes, Mariánksé Láznì is characterized by buildings that were erected in the classical style during the 19th century. The charm of this place must be credited to the common effort of landscape gardeners, architects and urban planners. Mariánské Láznì and its medicinal springs have offered recovery and silence to many guests since 1820.
The Czech composer Petr Hapka (* 1944) dedicated his “Music for the Fountain” to this world-famous resort area. When you listen to the music, you see and feel the more than 42 medicinal springs, fountains and the incomparable beauty of the landscape.
Petr Hapka is the most eminent personality among Czech composers of film music. He wrote the soundtracks for more than 100 productions, and we are convinced that the international band community will soon appreciate his „Music for the Fountain“.
The accordion orchestra version of this piece is combinable with the concert band version!
