"Les Misérables" is based on the famous novel by Victor Hugo (1862). The story of Inspector Javert relentlessly chasing prison escapee Jean Valjean was capured in numermous movies before Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil created this fantastic musical. Although it is common to premier such musicals in New York or London, "Les Misérables" was first performed in Paris, on September 22, 1980. Since then, it is very successful and popular all over the world, also because of its message: Hope will win!
One of Broadway's treasures is now available in this carefully crafted edition for younger groups. Michael Sweeney's treatment is well-paced with easy transitions, spotlighting four songs from the show.
