Edvard Grieg's orchestral works are very famous, because they stand between "serious" and "popular" music. The are performed both at symphonic concerts and at promenade concerts or request concerts.
Grieg wrote the stage music for Björnson's play "Sigurd Jorsalfar". Later he adapted three pieces from that stage music for orchestra and premiered them 1893 in Leipsic. The three pieces are titled: "In der Königshalle", "Intermezzo" and "Huldigungsmarsch". The latter is nowadays one of the most famous compositions of Edvard Grieg
