Pavel Stanék is one of those composers who often feels overwhelmed by the music which dwells inside him. They often have to choose a title for a new work that already exists in manuscript form. The idea for this composition therefore does not go back – as it is the case with famous masters of Czech national music – to the treasure of fairy tales of his native country.
Indeed, the suite was written during a stay in the hospital, when Stanék had to undergo critical surgery. Composing undoubtedly helped him to recuperate, to put aside somber thoughts – and all by itself he found himself in the midst of a fairy tale environment.
His creative musical ideas gave birth to pictorial musical tales, to musical paintings which became live episodes through music.
The work thus became a credible and plausible composition in our hectic times.
