Info
For Zbysek Bittmar (1934-2004), music was synonymous with jazz. Though self-taught in music, he worked with the Ostrava Radio Orchestra for thirty years, as saxophone player, arranger and composer. He began his career as composer by writing dance and jazz music for the radio, and later expanded his range to include larger-scale classical and wind compositions (Missa coloris of 1991/92) applying contemporary compositional methods.
Bulgarian Dance is inspired by the bulgarian folklore which, for Central Europeans, contains many exotic elements, such as irregular rhythm (7/8-9/8), Oriental-sounding modes, and the delightful colours of the sound of folk instruments.
