Austrian composer "Carl Michael Ziehrer learned the profession of a hatter before he followed his talent as musician, composer and conductor. 1884 he became director of the Infantry Regiment Hoch- und Deutschmeister No. 4 that, at a novelty concert staged by the band on Oct. 16, 1890, introduced the new march which was to became ”the” classical Austrian military march. "Schönfeld-Marsch" was dedicated to Feldzeugmeister (Lieutenant General) Anton Freiherr von Schönfeld who was corps commander and commanding general of the II Corps in Vienna between 1899 and 1894.
