Alfred Bösendorfer uses his elegant overture composed in the style of Gioacchino Rossini to describe the story of a “Postillon D’Amour” without following a rigidly programmatic course.
In a castle in Italy a longing young countess is waiting for her beloved husband to return. Solemn sounds announce the arrival of the messenger who hastens to deliver the communication expected. When the signal is sounded a second time, the magnificent main theme is taken up again: the count and his entourage returned to the castle.
The accordion orchestra version of this piece is combinable with the concert band version!
