Klaus Achs was born in 1933 as German in Banat (Romania) geboren.
He studied trombone and music theory in Bukarest from 1955 to 1960 and then became 1st trombone player of the Bukarest Philharmonic Orchestra and also played in the Radio Orchestra. In 1962 he moved back to Germany, working as tromone player and big band leader in East Berlin. After moving to West Germany in 1966 he became more successful, leading the famous concert band ”Bückeburger Jäger”.
He did additional studies at the Hamburg Conservatory, graduationg in 1971. An important time for Klaus Achs was his time as director of the Bundesjugendmusikschule in Bad Gandersheim. He devoted himself to the education of young musicians. But deep in his heart he always had the wish to lead his own orchestra again..

In 1979, Klaus Achs became leader of the Musikkorps der Landespolizei Schleswig-Holstein and worked hard make the band versatile and popular
