Jump and Joy
(Freudensprünge)
Pop Overture for Concert Band
Info
German composer Markus Götz wrote this modern overture “Jump and Joy” as a thoroughly joyous piece for concert band. Cheerful and bright rock melodies with staccato effects and dynamic syncopations radiate an optimistic energy in the fast part. The slow part also depicts joy, but in a softer and more personal manner – since this is another way to express joy. The mellow and emotional flugelhorn solo is also suitable for trumpet. The standard overture form A-B-A finally leads us back to the fast and sparkling sounds of the rock beginning. Due to its positive message, “Jump and Joy” is a perfect choice for any concert.
