A trumpet fanatic was once asked what could be better than a trumpet. His reply: “Two trumpets.” Generally speaking, one could apply this little joke to all music instruments. And from a purely sound point of view that is somehow true, because the combination of two sounds, often thirds, produces a rich and brilliant sound. In Mexican folk music we are very familiar with songs accompanied by two trumpets. The composition "Dos Muchachos" (Two Boys), written as a solo for (2) trumpets, takes up this typical characteristic.
