Apart from a “beetle” the title “Beetle Boogie” could also originate in the famous “Beatles”. This group therefore could consequently be referred to as the “Beetles”. However, the letters “ea” alludes to “beat” which basically stands for “rhythm”. Now, “boogie” is the only word lacking in our puzzle of terms. This fashionable American dance in fast 4/4 meter came into existence around 1930. Due to its quick, almost acrobatic motions, it soon conquered the dance halls all over the world. In our “Beetle Boogie” there is a stirring basic pace respectively “beat” in the bass section and in the percussion. In measure 1 to 10 this basic rhythm is augmented by some melodic instruments, which take over the main theme from measure 13 on. In measure 49 happiness reaches its climax by an “imitation”, namely the main tune is presented by various instruments coming in one after the other. In a figurative way you might as well think of a dancing couple that puts on a great show with their “Beetle Boogie”.
