"Music for the Royal Fireworks" by Georg Friedich Händel belongs to the most famous pieces of the Barock period. Beside his "Watermusic" this is his second open air music, which was premiered at a big firework for King George II. in London in 1749. The King specifically wished for a setting with wind instruments and timpanis. The huge band with 112 musicians played the first performance in boats on the River Thames.
